The History: It has been more than 20 years since the debut of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Since then, a rich heritage of different gaming platforms and countless games has come and gone. Wii brings these games back to life with the Virtual Console.
The Virtual Console enables you to play perfect recreations of classic video games on Wii including favourites from the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Turbografx (PC Engine) and SEGA MEGA DRIVE.
Whether you're a nostalgia fan who wants to re-live your childhood memories or a new player keen to experience the hits of yesteryear, the Virtual Console is your ticket to gaming history.
A wide selection of Virtual Console games is available to download from the Internet via the Wii Shop Channel. Each game costs a certain amount of Wii Points (2000 Wii Points = £14/20).
Many Virtual Console games can be played simply by using the Wii Remote sideways but certain titles require the use of additional controls. Therefore a Classic Controller is available that includes all buttons and analogue sticks necessary for playing any Virtual Console game.

The virtual console is a really good idea that nintendo has. Right now me and my bro(Dainironfist) have "A Link To The Past", "Ecco The Dolphin","Super Mario World" and "Super Mario Bros". Next we are probably going to get "Legend Of Zelda,Majora's Mask" or "LOZ, Ocarina Of Time".Also what I noticed when playing non-mario games, I see him popping up everywhere, like in "A Link To The Past", I saw mario in a picture in a house in kakariko vilage in the west region and in "Majora's Mask", the happy mask seller guy has a mario mask.
